Quick Fix
Change your DNS to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8). On Xbox, power cycle (unplug 5+ min) or clear alternate MAC address.
Step-by-Step Fixes
- [All] Change DNS to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) or Google (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4) in your network settings
- [Xbox] Power cycle: unplug the console for 5+ minutes, then reconnect. Or: Settings → Network → Advanced → Alternate MAC address → Clear
- [PC] Open admin Command Prompt. Run
ipconfig /flushdnsandnetsh winsock reset, then reboot - [PC] Temporarily disable antivirus (Kaspersky is a known blocker) to test — if it works, whitelist Marathon
What Causes Nightingale?
Nightingale occurs when Marathon cannot fetch configuration or manifest files from Bungie's content delivery network. Your ISP's default DNS may be slow, unreliable, or blocking CDN domains. Antivirus software can also intercept these requests. Changing to a public DNS (Cloudflare, Google) or power cycling the console often resolves routing and cache issues.
